Internet Workshop

Trainers in the Department of Journalism, have an opportunity to attend in the Internet workshop aimed at improving their training skills in the field of journalism especially on the use of Internet in today’s world to students. It started on Wednesday 24th and it closes today.
Today is the fourth session for the Internet workshop that has been conducted in Tumaini University, Iringa University College for Journalism Trainers.
The workshop which has been scheduled to take place from September 24 to 27th 2008 has brought about positive effect to trainers here at Tumaini.
I should give special thanks right away to the VIKES Foundation (Finnish Foundation for Media, Communication and Development) for considering this important workshop to be conducted here.
The most interesting part in workshop is that I have gained a lot especially on how to go about creating your own blogs and more importantly how to run it. This included among other things, how to post texts, how to edit and add profile to the new blogg and also add link to the blogg which I must admit it was quite amazing to have that knowledge added to trainers of the journalism students.
Such knowledge is of a great importance because in today’s world, we have experienced a great change and new development taking the pace hence obliging all trainers on the field of journalism to cope with the pace.
Moreover it helped me so much on how to correctly goggle for different important information on the web without getting lost hence get precise information.
The most important part also is that I have gained the useful knowledge on how to train young journalist students in areas like, how Internet has been used in everyday journalistic work, how journalistic research and assignment are done through the internet and more importantly how to go about starting blogs and the citizen journalism.
In the workshop, we have also spent a considerable time for practical which added value to what has been taught. Such exercises included how to train students to search in effective way different information, like the background history, telephone numbers for their sources of the stories they have written.
Lastly but not the least, I have learned and understood how to go about Internet banking, how a person can do different bookings for the train, bus or air in different traveling services via the internet.
